Mortgage Lending & A Summary of GSE Risk Share Opportunities

Tuesday, July 18th, 2017

2:00-3:30 p.m. EST

Since entering conservatorship, FHFA has mandated that the GSEs reduce the risk exposure to taxpayers generated by GSE credit risk guarantees by transferring this credit risk to the private sector. In response to this mandate, the GSEs have begun a series of risk-sharing initiatives to facilitate private capital stepping in to take the risk exposure. This webinar will provide an overview of the GSE risk-sharing activities to-date, discuss recent structures, and evaluate the performance of certain aspects of the transactions from a lender’s perspective.

The following information will be included in this webinar:

  • A summary of GSE risk share activities
    • Frame the size of the mortgage market
    • Define GSE Risk Share as it relates to the former model of GSE's holding all credit risk in exchange for guaranty fee
    • Discuss the FHFA Scorecard and the requirements for GSE Risk Share and emphasis on private capital
  • An overview of risk share structures
    • Define a typical bond structure (CAS and STACR)
    • Explain a reinsurance structure (ACIS and CIRT)
